Our students were surprised to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday in such a special way. It was so difficult to keep such and awesome secret from them, but it was so worth their reaction. They were first surprised by the whole deck decorated like Whoville, and then when they entered our classroom it was "Wacky Wednesday." If you have read the book, you know that it all started with "a shoe on the wall, shouldn't be there at all." It was so much fun to see the students look for all of the wacky things in our classroom, including myself who was dressed pretty wacky. The children really enjoyed themselves, especially when I read each invitation that invited us to visit another storybook land. Our first stop was through Wonderland, where we visited with the Mad Hatter. Then we were requested to visit Mr. Zuckermann's Farm. After that we made a trip to Hogwarts School of Wizardry. From there we went to the Enchanted Forest to visit the Evil Queen and Prince Charming. Our last stop was at Neverland. We also enjoyed delicious homemade cupcakes made by our great bookkeeper Ms. Root and gourmet Popsicles from a local company, Backyard Pops! It was certainly a great day full of literacy fun!! Thank you to everyone that made it possible.
Safety Week
During Safety week, the students learned about proper gear to wear when biking, rollerskating, or skateboarding. They also had a visit from our nearby fire station. The firemen shared their knowledge of fire safety and allowed students to share what they knew also. They also had the privilege of getting an up close tour of the fire truck. Thank you to all the men and women that serve and protect our communities.
